March Statement

Thanks to everyone that has expressed an interest in my campaign.  I am so honored and thankful for your support.

Our first event was our Campaign Launch Party at the Rose Park Library last Saturday, March 14.  The event was a huge success!  We had nearly 70 people in attendance and heard from Forward Party Senator, Emily Buss, Forward Party Communications Director, Philip Boileau, and my dear friend Annie.  It was interesting to hear about Emily’s experience in her first legislative session as well as the urgent items that still need to be addressed.  In addition to endorsing me, Phil spent some time explaining the need for a third party in our system of government and why the Forward Party is our hope for the future.  I was also honored and touched by Annie’s personal remarks and endorsement of my candidacy.

After the speakers, I had an opportunity to address everyone, and to explain why I am running.  Saving the Great Salt Lake is URGENT!  Not only for Utah, but for surrounding states, for businesses, agriculture, and our quality of life.  We can no longer afford to wait for our government to solve this problem!  As Emily said, most of the legislative items addressed during the last session were on fixing “problems” that didn’t exist.  We must act now to save our lake!

In addition, we need to make our state a great place to live for all Utahans – not just the wealthy.  We have a huge affordability problem here that must be addressed.  I was able to outline some of my ideas in this regard.

Finally, I talked about the upcoming Olympics in 2034.  I want visitors from around the world to see Utah as a model place to live and an example for their own communities.

These are big challenges and it’s going to take hard work and UNITY within our government to solve them.  I am ready and willing to put in the work and make our State better.  I will work across party lines to build consensus and to get things done.

I cannot do this alone.  I need volunteers and money.  The more money and volunteers we have, the more potential voters we can reach.  Thank you to all of you who have joined with me in donating your money and your time.  Our need continues.  Please dig deep and help me win in November!
